Recipe Of White Chicken
White chicken, also known as “white chicken chili” or simply “white chicken,” is a creamy and flavorful dish that’s perfect for a comforting meal. Here’s a recipe for a classic White Chicken Chili:
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
- 2 cans (15 oz each) white beans (such as cannellini or Great Northern beans), drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) corn kernels, drained
- 2 cans (4 oz each) diced green chilies
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt, to taste
For Garnish:
- Fresh cilantro, chopped
- Shredded cheese (Monterey Jack or cheddar)
- Sliced avocado
- Tortilla chips
- Sour cream
- Sliced jalapeños (optional)
Instructions:
- Sauté the Aromatics:
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Cook the Chicken:
- Add the cubed chicken to the pot. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the Flavorings:
- Stir in the ground cumin, oregano, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and smoked paprika (if using). Cook for another minute to release the spices’ flavors.
- Add the Chilies, Beans, and Broth:
- Stir in the diced green chilies, white beans, corn, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Simmer the Chili:
- Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer uncovered for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the flavors have melded.
- Add Creaminess:
- Stir in the sour cream, heavy cream, and lime juice. Simmer for another 5 minutes until heated through. Adjust the seasoning with salt to taste.
- Serve:
- Ladle the white chicken chili into bowls and top with your desired garnishes, such as chopped cilantro, shredded cheese, avocado slices, tortilla chips, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, you can add a can of cream of chicken soup along with the chicken broth.
- If you prefer a thicker chili, mash some of the beans before adding them to the pot.
Enjoy your delicious and comforting White Chicken Chili!
